New Windows Machine: recommend security software: antivirus, ad-blockers etc – RedFlagDeals.com Forums

New laptop is arriving tomorrow with Windows 10 and I mostly use Macs up to now. What is a good recommendation for security software and security practices? Is there a best anti-virus I should be running, or is the Windows anti-virus alone OK?I usually use the Chrome browser. Is there another browser that will be faster or more secure?Any recommended ad-blockers?I want to update all my practises before I use the new machine. I am already planning on either re-installing Windows 10 or running bloatware-removal tools.

If browse safely then built FW and AV should be sufficient. If not then keep W10 FW and try free AV like Avast, Avira, Panda, etc.Else, quite regularly 3 computer version [either for 1 year or 1 1/2 years] of Kasperky Internet Security goes on sale for $25 or less. Pretty much top 5 FW and AV. You can upgrade to next year version [usually comes around Aug or later] for free as long as have days left in license. Or in my case can even downgrade to prior version if like.Something like 3 years fwd and 1 year back.Bitdefender, Eset, Nod, Norton also good choices.Google also for various items to add to browser for security [no ads, scripts, etc.]Above all else, keep system up to date.
